Over the past decade, global private investment into infrastructure has amounted to around USD 100-150 billion annually, excluding secondary market transactions.
Using IJ Global data, the Global Infrastructure Hub calculated the private sector share of infrastructure investments with private participation. We found that Asia Pacific attracted the highest level of private investment in 2019, accounting for around 30% of the global value, ahead of both Europe and North America.
Our analysis also shows that over the past decade, Latin America and the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) have been fast growing regions for private investment, while Europe has seen the strongest decline.
