“You can be a small start-up and you can participate in infrastructure solutions. It’s a small community, it’s a government conversation, it’s a global conversation and as we develop the next generation of infrastructure solutions in a highly globalised world this dialogue between the private and public is essential.” – Ben Basely-Walker, Mruna, InfraChallenge 2020 winner.
Earlier this week the GI Hub hosted an online information session on InfraChallenge 2021, our global innovation competition that is looking for practical and scalable tech-based ideas to build and maintain better, more resilient infrastructure. The session brought together industry, government and participants and shared how individuals and organisations can get involved as partners and mentors and described the competition journey and its benefits for participants.
This year InfraChallenge is part of the 2021 Italian G20 Presidency infrastructure agenda, supporting the Presidency’s aim to promote quality infrastructure investment and transformative infrastructure responses, both to the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond the current crisis.
The session included GI Hub's CEO, Marie Lam-Frendo who provided an overview of the what, why and how of InfraChallenge 2021; Laura Palma, Senior Adviser, G7/G20 Coordinaton Office who discussed the need for more resilient infrastructure and the priorities of the G20 and Ziad Hussami and Ben Basely-Walker, InfraChallenge 2020 winner, Mrüna who shared insights on last years winning tech-solution and their InfraChallenge experience.
